Ban on smoking reducing lung cancer
According to the experts’ prediction, the rate of lung cancer will drop up to 20 percent in the upcoming two decades.
Cancer Research UK analyst anticipated that in 2024 the rate of lung cancer will drop from 50 to 40 patients per 100,000.The measure that have been taken, such as ban on smoking and advertisement have already started to lower the incidence of lung cancer.
But simultaneously they said that the number will increase due to the aging population because there is a delay in the smoking and the onset of the disease. On the realty basis the cancer patients will rise from 38,500 to 41,600 by 2024.
Ninety percent of the lung cancers arouse from smoking, men are on higher risk than women due the fact that men are more prone to smoking. Smoking rate was extremely high in the 1950 and have gradually started to reduce.
Researchers’ team stated that, “These predictions are totally based on the available data till to date and the trends and reported figures of the lung cancer. As lesser people will smoke we shall see the significant reduction in the disease rate.”
Cancer researcher, Jean King said, “These statistics showed the effectiveness of smoking control measures and the importance of these strategies to continue.
“We know that the smoking is the main culprit in the nine out of ten lung cancer cases, so it’s our divine service to save our next generation from this curse,” he added.
