Researchers Found New Enzyme Behind Cancer Metastasis

A new study has discovered an enzyme called LOX which helps the cancer to metastasize to other areas of the body.

Cancer metastasis is the process in which cancer spreads from its original location. It is held to be responsible for 90% deaths related to cancer.

The researchers found that LOX (lysl oxidase) sends out signals to set up a new location on the body for the cancer to perpetuate itself.

It is found that without this intimating preparation the immune system would show a strong resistance towards the development of cancer.

Primarily, this study is conducted on mice with breast cancer but scientists are hopeful to apply their findings on the humans successfully and for other types of cancer too.

It is very difficult to treat cancer metastasis but this new discovery has opened the doors to develop the drugs which block the enzyme’s activity and prevent cancer spread.

The research has made scientist closer to understanding of this difficult problem- the next step will be to discover the ways which can be helpful in switching off the cancer spread to be stopped.

This is the first ever discovery which has revealed the mystery of cancer metastasis- the root cause of deaths by cancer.
